The Dragon's Lair Stories by 4th Graders The Land of Gorhaz Prologue A long time ago there lived the man, WeiJin. WeiJin was sailing on his battle ship when he stumbled across the land of Gorhaz. He wondered how his captives would adapt to the land, so he let them go. The races were Trolls, Ogres, Humans, and Orcs. The minute he let the races to, they scrambled across the land, looking for somewhere to set camp. The Human peasants had some supplies the whole time, so they stayed where they were and started building a settlement. When they were done with the settlement, the rest of the races had just found a place they liked and had set up . The Humans had a dock already, so they were getting lumber, gold, and oil.
Chapter One Gorhaz swooped out of his lair, looking for something to eat. He had been sleeping for the last one hundred thousand years, so he was starving. He looked around, and at last he spotted a fire horse that was alone and at least 3 feet long and 15 feet high, which was more than enough to satisfy his stomach. But he didn't know he had some enemies on his island. Gorhaz's three heads were drooling.
He started towards his lair. On his way back he saw an antelope. "It'll have to do," thought Gorhaz. He swooped down and did the whole drill over--first confused it, then smacked it, which knocked it over, and then killed it. But instead of flying, he walked back to his lair to avoid the lava fish. While he was walking, he found a flying monkey egg. Now Gorhaz is at war with flying monkeys, so he smashed the egg and continued, because he didn't want any more trouble. After an hour or so, he got back to his lair. Then he realized that he would have to either fly or climb up to it. He chose to fly, so he flew from the ground and into his lair and started eating. After his satisfying meal, he started looking for a nest of a Rydrac (which is part dragon, pig elephant, and rhino). After searching for an hour, he had found one, but he didn't bother it because the nest had one baby Rydrac and a mother Rydrac. The mother was twice as big as he was, so he left them alone. An hour later, he found a baby Rydrac alone, and he went after it and killed it. No problem.
Chapter Two The next day, Gorhaz was awakened by the sound of cannons firing and explosions. So he went to check it out. When he go there, the Orcs and Humans were fighting. The Orcs saw Gorhaz and stopped firing cannon balls and started shooting nets at Gorhaz. One net, two nets, ten nets, a hundred nets, and one out of the hundred thirteen nets hit Gorhaz. His wings weren't caught, so he could still fly, but not very well. Two more nets shot up and hit Gorhaz's wings, and he went down. Just then the Orcs' ship blew up into a million pieces. Gorhaz was stuck in a net, but the humans saw that Gorhaz was in trouble, so they cut him free, and Gorhaz flew off like crazy. The battle continued behind him. Ships blowing up like crazy. Ogre juggernauts coming very fast. The Humans had reinforcements. coming so fast that the Orc ships were blowing up so fast that reinforcements were useless. The Orcs regretted they stopped to shoot nets at the dragon which caused them to lose the battle. Gorhaz was on his way back to his lair, when he got attacked by flying monkeys. He stopped to defend himself, but the monkeys outnumbered him, so he gave up. The flying monkeys took him to their lair and put him in a metal cage made out of gold and silver. he figured it would be nice for his horde if he ever saw it again. An hour later the Monkey Lord came to see Gorhaz and asked what Gorhaz was doing in their territory. Gorhaz said, "I was just going to my lair." "Ah lies. Too many lies," said the Monkey Lord. "But alas life goes on." Gorhaz was so furious he tried to burn the Monkey Lord. The monkey jumped back a little and said. "You're above a hole. Flame too much and you'll cause your own death." He walked away laughing. Gorhaz did a sarcastic laugh back. Then he heard fighting at the entrance. A few minutes later, Orcs appeared and Gorhaz was so surprised that he froze solid. One of the Orcs said. "Helpful those beasts, putting him in a cage for us." Another said. "I guess you're right. Get the cage down." "Yes, Master," the other said. They finally got the cage down and out of the cave. On the Orcs way down, Gorhaz was able to get his wings out of the cage and fly. His wings broke the bars eventually, and he grabbed the broken cage and put the bars in his horde when he got back to his lair.
Chapter Three The next day was Gorhaz's birthday. On his birthday he usually got a new piece of gold from his mother's horde, but nothing came from his mother. So he flew toward his mother's place. An hour later, he got to his mothers place and went in shouting. "Hi Mom. I'm back to see you." He got no reply, so he shouted again. "Mom, where are you and why aren't you answering me? He still got no reply, so Gorhaz continued on in his mother's lair. He finally found his mother on the floor of her lair dead. Gorhaz was heartbroken. He was so sad that he was with her for days. Days turned to weeks. Weeks turned to Months. Finally after ten long months, he finally got a hold of himself and got up and started looking for his mother's horde. When he found it, it had a note saying, "Dear son. When I pass away, this horde is for you, my only child. From Mom." Gorhaz was shocked. He was his mother's only child? By now Gorhaz was in tears. that she loved him enough to only have one egg. After he pulled himself together again, he put his mother's horde in his pouch and kept the note. On his way out he saw another note in his mother's hand. It said, "Dear son. I'm sure your horde is pretty big now. I loved you very much, but I got my horde from your Great Grand-father when he died, and now I give my horde to you. From Mom. P.S. I love you Gorhaz."
